Welcome, I'm Brian

Hi, I’m Brian Farnum. I grew up in Vermont, where the landscape and the character of its small towns became part of how I see the world. My parents grew up in Manchester and Peru, and I’ve called both Rutland County and Addison County home.

My interest in photography began in high school, when I picked up my first 35mm film camera. I loved the hands-on process: finding a composition, making an image on black-and-white film, and waiting to see what appeared after development. It taught me to slow down, notice the light, and look more closely at the moments around me.

Rooted in Vermont, inspired by the moments that stay with us.

I graduated around the turn of the millennium—Y2K and all—and my curiosity about photography has stayed with me ever since. I’m drawn to the way a photograph can hold a feeling, a place, or a moment in time.

Vermont continues to inspire me. Its changing seasons, familiar roads, and close-knit communities remind me to pay attention to what makes a place and its people distinctive. That sense of curiosity and appreciation is at the heart of my story.
