Vermont Wedding Photographer FAQ
October 3, 2026
Planning a wedding brings a long list of decisions, and choosing a photographer is one you’ll want to feel good about. This Vermont wedding photography FAQ answers the questions couples ask me most often about pricing, coverage, engagement sessions, photo delivery, travel, and what it’s like to have me there on the day.
I’m Brian Farnum, the photographer behind B. Farnum Photography. I photograph weddings throughout Vermont, from intimate celebrations to full wedding days.
My approach is personal and relaxed: I’ll offer direction when it helps, give you space when a moment is unfolding, and pay attention to the people and details that make your wedding yours.
I’m a gay-owned, inclusive business. Whoever you love and however you celebrate, you’re welcome here.
Vermont wedding photography FAQ: pricing and booking
My wedding photography packages begin at $3,000. Many couples investing in full-day coverage spend around $4,000–$6,000, depending on the hours, second photographer, and other options they choose. I’ll help you understand what’s included and which collection fits your plans.
I don’t price wedding coverage by the hour because the right amount of coverage depends on how your day is arranged and what you want photographed. Share your date, venue, and general plans with me, and I can send you the details that fit.
Start by sending me your wedding date, venue or town, and a little about what you’re planning. I’ll check availability and share the next steps. Once we choose a collection, the date is reserved with a signed agreement and a 50% retainer. Payment plans are available.
Many couples book 6–12 months ahead, especially for popular summer and fall dates. If your wedding is sooner, you’re welcome to ask. If I’m available, I’d be happy to talk through your plans.
There is no additional travel fee for weddings within Vermont. For weddings outside the state, we can discuss travel and lodging needs when I learn more about the location and schedule.
Yes. I’m happy to consider weddings elsewhere in New England and beyond. Travel arrangements depend on the location and may include transportation, lodging, and equipment baggage for destination weddings.
Coverage and the wedding day
That depends on your timeline and the parts of the day you want documented. Some couples want coverage focused on the ceremony and portraits; others want the story to begin with getting ready and continue into the reception.
When we talk, I’ll help you think through the schedule so you can choose coverage that makes sense for your plans. You don’t need to have every detail figured out before reaching out.
Yes. I can offer guidance on where photography fits into your schedule, including getting-ready photos, family portraits, couple portraits, and travel between locations. A thoughtful timeline helps the day feel less rushed and gives you more time to enjoy it.
Both. I pay attention to real moments as they happen, and I’ll give you gentle direction when it’s helpful—especially for portraits and family group photos. You don’t need to know how to pose or perform for the camera. I’ll help you feel comfortable and keep things moving.
Absolutely. Many people tell me they feel unsure about being photographed. You don’t have to arrive knowing what to do. I’ll offer simple guidance, make room for natural interaction, and give you time to settle in. The engagement session included with my wedding packages is also a chance for us to get comfortable together before the wedding.
A second photographer is included or available depending on the collection and coverage you choose. Having another photographer can help document different parts of the day at once, such as both partners getting ready or multiple viewpoints during the ceremony.
I’ll explain what makes sense for your plans when we discuss your wedding photography package.
Please share important family groupings, meaningful traditions, and moments you especially want remembered. I’ll use that information while also paying attention to the moments that happen naturally throughout the day.
Yes. Tell me what traditions are important to you and anything you’d like me to know ahead of time. I want to understand the flow of your celebration and photograph it with care and respect.
Vermont weather can change, so it helps to have a backup plan for outdoor parts of the day. If rain is in the forecast, we can talk through covered locations, indoor options, and ways to adjust the timeline. I’ll work with the conditions we have and help you stay focused on the celebration.
Yes. I bring backup cameras, lenses, and lighting, along with extra batteries and memory cards. I also record images to two memory cards in my cameras and back up the files after the wedding. I plan carefully so a technical issue doesn’t become your worry on the day.
Post Wedding, Photo Delivery and Backups
Most couples receive approximately 600–800 edited photos, depending on the length of coverage and the events during the day. I select the strongest images that tell the story of your wedding rather than sending every frame I capture.
Your finished online gallery is typically ready within 4–8 weeks. The exact timing can vary with the season and the schedule around your wedding. Your gallery lets you view, share, and download your photos.
Yes. Every delivered image is edited for a consistent, finished look. I review the full set and select the photographs that best tell the story of your day.
I deliver finished, edited photos rather than RAW files. Editing is part of how I create a cohesive gallery, and the files I deliver are ready to view, share, and print.
Your gallery includes high-resolution downloads, and you can order prints through the gallery. If you’re interested in an album, ask me about the options available with your collection.
